Medical / Clinical Laboratory Consultant

This is a flexible, part-time opportunity to serve as the CLIA role of technical consultant for small physician offices and clinic laboratories in the DFW area.  You will make monthly site visits to these laboratories and be available by phone and email to answer questions as they arise.  Site visits take approximately 2-4 hours each depending on the type and complexity of the laboratory.  Most must be completed during normal business hours Monday through Friday, although some assignments have the flexibility of 24/7 operations.

To apply for this position, the following are required:

• You must be a certified MT, MLS, or CLS, or have a bachelor’s degree in a biological science. Proof of bachelor’s degree will be required.
• You must have a minimum 2 years clinical laboratory experience.
• You must have your own transportation, and be willing to travel up to 30 miles per location.
• You must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to help teach non-laboratorians the complexities of laboratory tests and regulations.
• You must manage and coordinate your schedule to make all site visits within the first 2 weeks of each month.
• You must turn in QA reports for each site visited each month.

Additionally, the following would be beneficial:

• Knowledge of CLIA and COLA regulations
• Supervisory experience in the clinical laboratory
• Having been through (and an integral part of) a laboratory inspection process

This is an independent contractor position.  No more than 2 assignments will be given during a trial period of 3 months.
